My new radiator grill cover has smaller holes than my stock VTX grill
cover, but still not small enough that something couldn't get through
and end up costing me $500 for a new radiator.
What if I put some kind of insect screening behind the grill cover -
aluminum, fiberglass... I'm guessig it would restrict airflow to the
radiator too much, but just wondering if anybody has done this with
success.
Thanks,
Greg

I went to the local 'Supercheap auto store' and brought some alloy 'boy
racer bling' mesh. It came in either blue , red, or alloy colours (I
went for the blue) and was easy to bend into shape. I bolted it to the
radiator fan mounting bolts. It's already got a couple of dings in it,
so it's doing it's job with no overheating problems.

Thanks, Brian. Another question: how fine is the mesh? Is it like a
window screen?

No, it's like a diamond shape holes about 3mm wide x 6mm long. Sort of
like the expanded grating used on overhead walkways only smaller. A mate
has used stainless square mesh as fine as window (flyscreen) meash but
it was hard to shape and doesn't look that good as it's not flat. It
might be OK if you are putting it behind a cover though. Either way, it
didn't effect his temp.
