I have several bikes (and a trike) that have no visible VIN's stamped
anywhere. Several of them are custom (home) built. They all have
registration papers though, and each has a VIN of some kind.
I've been thinking about stamping the steering necks with the same
vehicle #'s that are on the papers.
From some recent talk in the VB&G I gather this might be a bad idea.
Anyone know the real skinny on this? I'm Canadian, but what if
I'm riding around in the States and some cop checks the #'s and
figgures I stamped them myself (ie, into the black paint that's
already on the metal surface).
