It did not.

I didn't mean then. I meant now.
When premium gasoline, in California is approaching $4.00 a gallon, and
there doesn't appear to be any motorcycles like it, available in the US
market.

Fuel in the UK is the equivalent of US$10.00/gallon, and I can assure
you hardly anybody bought it here either.

When you quote fuel price/gallon in US$, to an audience that is
accustomed to using US gallons, they are rightly going to assume
you mean US gallons. You can certainly argue the toss that the
gallons that matter are UK ones, because that's where the price
applies.
(Source Google)
1 Imperial gallon = 1.20095042 US gallons
1 US gallon = 3.7854118 liters
1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609188 liters
Today's average fuel price in UK = 1.025 GBP / liter (someunknownwebsite)
1.02500 British pounds/liter = 2.067835 U.S. dollars/liter
1 British pound = 2.0174 U.S. dollars
1.025 GBP/liter * 2.0174 US$/GBP = 2.067835 US$/liter
2.067835 US$/liter * 3.7854118 liter/US gallon = US$ 7.82760701 / US gallon
=============================================
If you insist on mixing UK gallons and US$:
2.067835 US$/liter * 4.54609188 liters / UK gallon = US$ 9.4005679 / UK gallon
So yes, not far at all from US$10 / UK gallon.
