If you want to pay a bunch - yes, you can (pay a Registered Importer to
do the certification testing and the paperwork to get the Cub/Innova 125
on the US FMVSS list of accepted imports - reportedly about $5000 on top
of the $3000 for the bike, taxes and import duty).
Honda must have some kind of prejudice against the USA or the Cub line
if they wont do the due diligence. IMHO, having Cubs legal for import to
the USA would be like printing money for Honda.
Dealers already work on that type of engine (CRF/XR50), and it's
significantly more durable, easier to work on, has more worldwide
support, hop-up parts and aftermarket bling! than the Metropolitan,
Elite or Ruckus.
If only we had the selection and support in the USA that's available in
England.
I dropped in to Hunt's Honda in Manchester, ordered replacement parts
for my 1983 C70 Passport on a Saturday afternoon, they get shipped in
next day for no extra charge ON SUNDAY MORNING from Belgium, and I have
them in hand by 10 am - in plenty of time for me to take them back to my
hotel room, stuff them in my baggage and fly home Monday to Texas with
brand new plastic parts for my 1983 USA-type.
Hunt's also had the droolworthy 1999 Honda AC15 Dream 50 street bike
sitting in the parts department - but it wasn't for sale. Lucky for me,

I already have one <grin>.
Now if only I could buy a Honda Innova 125 there and send it home. Saw
one last week buzzing through Paris traffic. Might be freeway legal
here, might not. Still, it's a great package for the money. Much more
sensible than almost all of the twist-and-go generic scooters available
here.
Sigh.

Welcome aboard, Mike. I didn't know you posted on Reeky. I
occasionally stop by your Yahoo forums.
Now that gas is going above $3 US per gallon, I think it would
be an excellent alternative to the rash of small gray market
scooters we've been seeing. I don't know if it would be a
money maker though, as the 2-wheeler market has been very
exclusive and manufacturers are wary of altering their success
stories (current sales).

The Cub is my kind of bike, homely enough to loved and hopped
up.

I don't know if we'll see the Innova on US soil. It is a
rather nice looking little scooter.
