Does anyone have any experience with dying leather a
different colour?

I have a motorcycle jacket that is black, orange, and
purple.  I hate the colours - and always have.  The jacket
was a deal I couldn't pass up when I bought it.  But I've
finally had enough.  I want to dye the purple part black.

Is this possible?  Any hints or tips of where I could take
it to have this done?

 I have.
I have done saddle bags, and boots many times. I just finished dying
some goodlooking brown boots to black, I wanted them black.
You are not gonna believe what I use.
I use regular ''latex flat'' paint.
I clean the bags  real good, with any type of cleaner that will take off
some of the old color,(not particularly all, maybe 20%, like dull it
real good), and all, of anykind of oil-ness.
On a jacket, I am not totally sure but I would do it, if I had one I
didnt like the color.
Latex Flat acts like a dye, rather than a paint.
Enamel doesnt act the same, ya havta use _flat_.
I have been painting for many years. I
I sincerely think it would do the job on the purple. You could try it on
an inconspicuous place, you know.
=(Note) after  6 to 8 hours, then you use boot polish to finish off the
job.

 In article <11803-44846A42-812@storefull-

That doesn't sound particularly good for the leather.  The
oil in the leather is important!

Very true, Cam.  But, then again, we know Bjay is full of shit on many
topics....or maybe he does use flat latex spray paint to "dye" leather.
This also makes him the biggest dumbass on the planet.

No, it doesn't, BJay.
