Wonderful!  Really takes me back!  Naught better than camping out on a
dry lake with bikes, drinking a bit too much, and doing stupid things
that you'll remember well into your dotage.  (We used to take along
guns and home-made fireworks as well, but that was long before people
built houses along the edge of the playa. You couldn't get away with
it today.)

Nice to see that you can still play dodgem-cars among the pucker
bushes at the south edge of the lake, though.

Thanks for the memories, Bryan!

Gawd, how I hate it when Hollyweird hipsters discover one of my
childhood hangouts!

I can't imagine riding any of those torture racks any more, but I love
the fact they look like they just came out of the 70s.

I've ridden dirtbikes and dualsports out on El Mirage dry lake bed,
when the mud dries it's as hard as concrete.

I've even driven my cars on the lake, where the Southern California
Timing Association started the land speed record craze back in the
late 40's/early 50's.

My most recent use of El Mirage was as a place to fly my radio control
airplanes without being bothered by the boorish old men of Valley
Flyers in Sepulveda Basin.

The same old men were flying their RC planes there every day of the
week, and sometimes I just wanted to take it out and play with it all
by myself...

That's so unlike you.  Normally you scold others for being so self
absorbed...
