the inside of my TANK is rusted out...outside it looks great.
any liquids or fluids that can clean this thing out? ACID of some sort?

Kreem, available at any motorcycle dealer.  It takes a minimum of 3 days to do
it right.  If it's rusted badly, it will take longer.  It has an acid to remove
rust, an etching solution, and a latex rubber liquid liner.  If you get in a
hurry and stop the acid step before every trace of rust is gone, the liner will
not stick.  Step by step instructions are included with the kit and if you don't
follow them to the letter, you will get a bad result.

Por-15 is available at some motorcycle dealers but you can order it online at
www.por15.com .  It's similar to Kreem but it uses an epoxy liner instead of
rubber.  It also has good instructions, but they also must be followed to the
letter or you won't be happy with the results.

Somebody will be along in a minute to rant about how lousy the Kreem is.  That
is somebody who didn't follow the directions closely enough.

I Kreemed the tank of a 750 Magna almost 10 years ago and it's still holding
with no problems, no rust, and no leaks.

I used Kreem on a 76 CB750F.  Worked well for a while.  Then the tank
rusted through from the outside.  Not the fault of the Kreem...  I've
heard better reviews about the POR15 stuff though, and next time I have
to do a tank I will use that.

If the tank is REALLY rusted - like so badly that the acid loses its
potency before all the rust is gone - pick up a bottle of CLR from your
local supermarket/department store.  It's a Calcium Lime Rust remover.
I used this to get the last of the rust out of my tank.  Worked
better/faster than the stuff that was included with the Kreem (stronger
concentration of the same acid IIRC)

Here's a trick I've used several times, all with success-

Buy a couple of bags of aquarium rocks, (color is your choice) and a
half gallon of kerosene.

Remove the petcock and plug the hole with a rubber stopper or cork
then add one bag (1 LB.) aquarium rock and kero.
Shake the whole mess for at least 30 minutes. Not 30 seconds gomer, 30
minutes. Get the neighborhood kids to help or you better half, but make
sure you do it for 30 MINUTES.

Remove the stone and kero, rinse the tank. Look in there and see how
she looks, if not completely clean, add the other bag of stone and
repeat.

Works like magic if your tank is sound, if it isn't you'll find out
real fast.

If there are holes, or holes develope, the alternative is to use
polyester resin and fibreglass on the outside, then "Kreem" or POR15.

Do this then tell me nothing worked!
