Motorcycles are, by and large, fashion and lifestyle purchases both in
the US and western Europe. Thus they are subject to the vagaries of
fashion and what consumers want to spend their dosh on, like any other
consumer durable.
Yeah, there are always diehard motorcycle enthusiasts, but they are in a
minority. Yeah, there are people who use bikes as essential transport,
but they are also in a minority. And for them, small scooters and the
like exist.
That's the way it is these days.

Try Googling before asking a damn silly question.

Me too. Trouble is, I don't know what buyers want. I liked my BSAs and
Triumphs and my "airhead" BMWs and Harleys and others that looked like
motorcycles so I cannot relate to folks who want ever bigger/heavier tourers
on the one hand or 'performance' bikes that look like stink bugs. OTOH
SWMBO's new "Fat Boy" looks like a motorcycle despite the name, does what it
was made to do honestly and competently, and is getting 52-53 MPG albiet on
high test. So maybe they're hyping the wrong models. What kind(s) of
bike(s) do y'all want?
