I have. I had on a JR Ballistic mesh jacket when I crashed in '02. I went body
surfing on the road shoulder at somewhere above 45 mph. The jacket performed
superbly and I had no rash where the jacket covered.

The pants would have worked just as well if I'd been wearing them. They were
safely tucked in a saddlebag. :( Blue jeans, even brand new ones, are good for
about 6 inches in a slide and then you're giving away skin.

I still wear that jacket today. Aside from a few picks in the stomach area, it
didn't get a scratch.

A light rain suit over the mesh outfit works exactly like a dead air space
(because it is) and keeps me warm down to about 40F. YMMV.

That is good to know. I'll be wearing that jacket most of the time on the
desert trip next week. Along with a camelback for hydration.

I am still debating on buying the Icon jeans though.

For jeans I'd also recommend http://www.motoport.com. They've got a few
kinds, some with kevlar... they're not cheap but they are very effective. A
friend went down (missed a turn, end of a long long day of hot riding) this
spring. He slid quite a ways on asphalt and I swear you could not tell
anything had happened by looking at the pants or jacket he was wearing.
Sold me anyways.
