Wow. You should really stay away from Usenet.

And you MORONS in REEKY call me bigoted just because I don't like a
certain type of "THING" or HD style of bikes. Look up the definition of
the word bigot sometime.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
big·ot (b¹g“…t) n. One who is strongly partial to one's own group,
religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is nothing in that definition about THINGS. I don't like Cruisers
or almost anything blatantly "RETRO" because it signals the average man
or woman in this nation regardless of their race, religion. politics or
group is generally too stupid to see that by buying a HD MC or new
Chrysler 300 is attempting to relive our glorious past of America in
it's prime years instead of looking forward to harder times and yes,
hard work. This is tantamount to an Ostrich sticking it's head in the
sand at the 1st sign of an external threat. Or better yet, a herd of
lemming birds racing to follow the panic stricken lemming who is 1st to
jump off the cliff. It takes no thinking to be a follower folks! That
may be a hard pill to swallow but the truth always is;)
Lets now take a good look at a country and two companies that are
willing to take on the pacific rim influx of innovation, head on. Who
are they and what product do they sell? Why it's our mother country, an
alley with, for the most part their heads looking forward rather than
behind or stuck in the sand. And they sell motorcycles or major
(engines) motorcycle products.

Note that the above "dark horse" brand has handsomely cleaned the clocks
of "all" the "comparable" products from both East and West of them,
including the Ducati 749 at twice the price.
Would I buy this particular bike myself? No, because it doesn't suit my
needs but this company does built one that I would buy.

That's just one example, Below is another British company with it's own
idea on how to build a simpler 4 stroke MC engine.

In the meantime we're busy marketing old 1930's designed products, like
the HD/Buell motorcycle line or the new retro chevy Camaro's with old
school 1950's tech pushrod engines that crank out 75 HP per liter. It
sickens me that we've let ourselves go to the dogs but only a handful in
this NG are bright enough to see the writing on the wall.

They both sell like hotcakes to people with money to spend. If you
have money maybe you should start buying what you preach. Cause
apparently folks like you either don't have money or are terribly
cheap with the pocketbooks. Neither of which helps out any company
trying to stay profitable.
Until then OEMs are perfectly within their druthers to make what
sells.
As for inefficiency being king, just take a look at soundly Toyota has
kicked General Motor's ass. One has hedged their bets on hybrid
technology, the other offers an SUV heavy lineup.

Hey Bob, just got this months issue of Rider a couple days back and
they had an ST comparo. You'll be pleased to know that the Sprint won.
They fixed the bags this year. They are thinner (though with less
capacity), easier to operate, and are now waterproof (will miracles
never cease?).
No passengers were carried during the making of the article so it is
still unknown if superior heat shielding methods were used in this
years model. They did note that the passenger accomodations were
lacking in comparison to the Duc ST3s and BMW ST.
I'm also not partial to the low clip ons. You know if anyone makes bar
risers for that bike yet?

I stopped in the Euro dealer today and threw a leg over a new red ABS
ST. The OTD price they quoted was ~$14K with new bags included in the
base price of $10.5K. Apparently ABS is nearly $1000 extra.
