While I think most of your post is fairly accurate, I'm not sure about
this last paragraph. Remember, Bush was re-elected. Any constituency
stupid enough to re-elect the man in 2004 is dumb enough to do it
again.

That was before most everybody realized how badly he had screwed up in
Iraq and before he had run the economy into the ground.
