Was that a dual-carb year? Jeez yeah, take the money and run. Rent a
camper and don't worry about not coming back from the desert.
I used to have a '78 Westphalia, one time I was at a moto-race in the
dez, and went back and forth between two dunes until I got to the top
of one like a mountain goat. People were asking how the hell I got it
up there, I told them it was a Porsche-in-a-box.
When I first got it, it took me a while to get rid of the '68 I had
before. I wound up being very happy the Yamaha dealer took it as a
down payment for my Vision (and he was happy with the tax write-off
donating it to his church). Kicking myself now for selling the
Vision, but at least the guy who bought it is really into Visions. I
sold it because I didn't want to deal with rebuilding two carbs (or
paying someone else to do it).
So for a while I had two busses, and my neighbor had an early '60's
crew-cab transporter. The other neighbors must have loved that
parking situation, but no one complained.
