Thumpers (single cylinder dirt bikes) and it's not in reference to our
buddy in Cali. <g> If a 250 will work for you, upgrade the gas tank
with an aftermarket. I put a 5 gallon on the XR650 and basically
tripled the range to over 200 miles on that big beast. Ask TS about
Sherpas aka KLR250 (one and the same!!). She rode one for quite a
while. Either one is a very good choice for offroading on trails.
Don't exclude the Suzuki DR series either.
There are a couple huge threads on this exact subject. Use the search
