It means that the somewhat delusional author would like
his imaginary millions of sympathizers to protect him from
the people whom he foolishly blames for everything that's

Hey! Don't pick on Sean by publicly calling him "somewhat delusional."
Mental illness not a personal weakness or character flaw, we just have
to accept Sean the way he is and embrace the diversity by which the
mentally handicapped daily enrichen our lives.
