The I of M event is not a race, it is a Time Trial. Thats why we call it a
TT.

Many forms of racing become TTs after a few laps when the good guys string
out and nobody challenges.

Flat track, et al, avoid that by keeping the races short, thus keeping
competators together to encouraging passing.  This is indeed true racing.

NASCAR fans claim that only stock cars on oval tracks are racing, the rest
of motorsport is just parading.

I really like it too.  And the best thing is there is far more
opportunity to partake of it in my area. That said, I still prefer
road racing. To me it is more visceral and relevant. I feel every
drive out of a corner, tire slide, and near miss.

There is an auditorium at a local amusement park that shows films of
roller coaster from a point of view perspective. After riding them all
morning, watching the film feels as real as riding the coaster.  I
suppose watching the racing gives me a similar sensation while saving
on gas.

No, it's a race, or rather several races, and TT doesn't stand for 'Time
Trial'.

Anyone remember Chris Crew?
AFAIK, the only Denizen to compete there.
