Hey, on the bright side, your first 599 lasted longer than my first new
bike. And I had been riding for 13 years. My 2003 Concours lasted one
week, and a total of 58.8 miles...
My new new bike, the 2006 Concours, has lasted over 600 so far.
And, as for myself, having learned on the streets of north NJ - and
wrecking on an open, fairly straight road in upstate NY, I won't be any
more forgiving after seeing a video... :o)

Where upstate ? And at what speed / etc that caused the
inappropriate positioning of the rubber side ?

Near Saugerties, NY. At the legal speed limit for the road I was on (55
mph) Best that can be determined was the front tire blew out, sending
me into the ditch on the right hand side of the road. Wouldn't have
been a problem (as one of my few memories of the incident) as I was
still upright in the ditch. Unfortunately, the ditch ends abruptly in a
culvert where a driveway passes over the ditch. Thus launching myself
and the bike, end over end, and into the ditch on the other side of the
driveway.

Ah. My old riding grounds. Stone Ridge, Hurley, etc. I used
to go up Shokan Res. early in the AM to catch sunrise. Then maybe bop
down to Mohonk, check out who was playing at Checkers ( played there
myself once or twice ), or the fresh meat at Joe's, etc ..... or over
to Woodstock, wander around with the touristas ....
