My bike is bright red, my helmet's bright yellow, and I use my headlight
modulator as needed.

If those don't do the trick you aren't going to be seen anyway; screaming
yellow suit or not.

It's been suggested that the best strategy is a white and
blue color scheme sort of vaguely resembling a CHP bike.

There may be some truth in this. I suspect the lizard brain
which most drivers seem to run on recognizes this color
scheme as a predator and takes precautionary actions.

Probably true. I *know* my modulator often freaks out cage drivers in front
of me when I turn it on.

Despite the red bike, the yellow helmet, and the fact that the flashing
light *isn't* red, they often pull over as if they thought it was a cop
behind them. (And who am I to argue with a good thing?)

It makes you look badass. BUT that is not why I have always worn
black. I wear it for the same reason the "50" "PoPo" "the MAN" wears
black these days and that is one word "INTIMIDATION". When dumb
monkeys see something large and black they run away screaming.
Generally speaking it works...generally. I abuse their lizard
brains to protect myself. It's a lesson learned from nature...look
scary adn the predatory creatures leave you be.
