My choice would be the Ducati. First, it's the cheapest.
Secondly, the ST3 is actually a reasonably reliable Ducati, and cheap to
run and service.
Thirdly, it will forge a relationship with you that the other bikes -
with the exception of the HJarley(s) - simply won't. Everyone ought to
at least try the Ducati Thing once: it may end in a long-standing love
affair or heartbreak, but you'll never know unless you try it.
Fourthly - if you live on or near twisty roads, the Ducati will reward
like no other. If, OTOH, you've got long open boring freeways, then
maybe the Harley(s).

Mostly chrome.
FWIW, I think of the Street Glide as more of a Road King with a
batwing fairing than a stripped down Electra Glide.
The FLHT has the silver engine, very little chrome and no radio.
The Street Glide has the black engine with chrome. The stereo is worth
(questionable) some $1200 by itself.

They look it but they aren't.
To be really comfortable they need a seat upgrade and the available
H-D windshields are a bit too small but they'll tour just fine.
Especially with 96" and a 6 speed.
I'd rather travel on a dedicated touring bike though.

I have one big ride planned for next year and that will be it for the
three week rides for a while. I do like the comfort offered by the
Venture. That's why my plan was to hang on to the Venture for another
season.
Now if the right bike pops up before then that plan can be changed.

Translation: My Venture is just about shot.. hauling my big ass.. I'd sure
like to get another motorcycle, but.. hell, this is usenet and I needed to
post something to distract from all that heat coming from Texas..

>Wow. Things are expensive in Canada these days. The other
>differences include that the Classic is taller (the SG has shorter
>shocks and a lowered front end compared to both the EG standard,
>classic, and ultra). The Classic should have a sound system, it is
>the EG Standard that just has a hole where the stereo should (and can)
>go. The EG Classic should have electronic cruise control, 9-spoke
>alloy wheels (instead of the plate-style wheels on the SG), saddlebag
>"roll-bars," chrome fender trim, reagular mirrors and windscreen
>instead of the integrated (and useless) SG mirrors and (useless) mini
>wind deflector on the fairing. THEG Classic has the light bar with
>spotlights on either side of the main headlamp; these are missing on
>the SG. Different seats, and lots of trim differences, too.
The Classic should have the stereo standard. The cruise is a $290
option.
Tha Standard has no stereo and lists at $19,500.
