The trip South to Invercargill starts on Monday so I thought I'd best
get my gear ready........a new rear tyre even though the one I had would
probably have gone the distance.Last time I thought a tyre would last
the distance, I was way wrong and ended up riding with the wires in the
carcass flailing as the broke, until we made it to civilisation. (Well
done Mr. Pirelli!!)
Checked the oil, tyre pressures, lubed the chain and moved the bars back
a bit.....The bike is all ready bar the petrol.
The plan of fine weather looks like it might not work, with heavy rains
and high winds (my favourite) expected halfway through Monday. So I put
some Dubbin on my boots and 'Ghecko Gaurd'ed my riding gear.....it's the
first time I've used this waterproofing product so it will be
interesting to see how well it works.
Only need to clean my visor (once I find it!) and maybe treat it with
some 'Rainex'. It's an anti-beading coating I use on my car windows, but
I'm not too sure what it will do to plastic....I'll try it on an old
visor first.
My luggage will fit in my pockets.....spare socks, boxers, knife,
lighter and wallet. I've couriered a spare change of clothes ahead to
where I'm staying.
The initial 12-15 bikes has reduced to 7, but that suits me just fine.
Work/family/$$$ commitments have taken their toll. I'm abandoning the
boys to their own devices, with mates calling in at random times to
check on them.
I can't wait to get going....even the shite weather doesn't dampen the
enthusiasm......11 days hooning around with 3 days of bike racing to
watch in the middle.
...then it will be back to reality, off to court to hand in my licence
and hopefully get a work licence for 3 months.....could be a hassle as
it looks like I'm going to be seconded to another company for a couple
of months and I'd need to be allowed to drive there as well.....we will see.
