Good troubleshooting tip. I'll give this a shot.

BTW, the headlight on my VTX runs through the ignition switch. I had
to clean that at one point due to intermittent starting problems; the
bike wouldn't turn over. While cleaning the switch (and it's just a
cheap plastic thing with 2 copper contacts on my bike) did lessen the
problem, it didn't completely (well, 99%) go away until I swapped out
the spark plugs, finding one with a nearly missing electrode and
another or two that were loose.

Since it's a Kawasaki, it will probably be what the COG folks
call the "J-Box"[1]. It's a box with some relays in it, the
relays shake loose from the printed circuit board and need to
be resoldered/replaced.

Interesting that you mention this... my son took his bike the first
time to a local repair guy who suggested that the fuse block was to
blame and wanted $180 for a new one plus installation. My son, not
feeling that was the problem took it to another repair facility who
replaced the battery and said that if the ehadlight problem continued,
it would mean look at the electrical connections.
I will look into this with my son.
And to Polarhound... we will be looking at the connections to the fuse
box.
Thanks,
Greg

If nothing else works, clean the start button. Sometimes it helps.
