Took our usual 100+/- mile circuit south down US 1 from Palm Bay, cross over
Wabasso Rd tp A1A, north to US 192 and west to home, with variations.
Waiting for the light to turn notyn onto A!A we were greeted by a very good
rider on a nip bike who took the opposite right hander onto Wabasso
perfectly, knee olmost on the ground. Only trouble is he was dressed in a
wife-beater shirt, shorts and flip-flops. I wonder what might have happened
had we given him a big wave <grin>.
We stopped at Ponce de Leon's landing beach to walk in the sand and breath
the ocean for a few minutes. Swells were bigger than usual. Suddenly, out
of a swell that was about to break came about a million small (8" or so)
fish and a couple swells later they did it again. This time we saw what was
herding them, or at least its back ... couldn't tell if it was a shark of
porpoise. It was 86 deg there but by the time we got bach onto the main
land it was 97, but that doesn't tell it all. The sun down here is so hot
that my black helmet gets too hot to hold onto. Time to head for the air
conditioning for lunch and remember the long shady rides down the parkway.

I vividly remember the first time I ever saw a dolphin...
An Air Force buddy and I had rented a small boat with an outboard
motor, which stalled in the middle of the Indian River.
While we were trying to get the motor started, two dolphin fins broke
through the surface, and I thought they were sharks.
But my friend, who was from Ocala, knew they were dolphins and calmed
me down.
