Hi,

I'll spend a few days in NYC soon and might like to write a short
feature on the motorcycling scene there for a German bike mag. Any
hints? What's it like there?

Also, ten years ago, there used to be a troll named "Janice in NYC"
harrying this here group. "She" still around? Has anybody actually
ever met "her"?

Regards
Peter

Demetrios was always such a great read.

This story should maybe be titled: "The City Bike and the Country
Bike" and you can then compare and contrast the two. At least that's
what I always think about NYC bikes when I go there and see them,
always dirty, dented, usually aged and war torn (even through they
might perform and run perfectly) and chained so some parking post or
grating with a huge bike chain and lock. As compared to my pampered,
shiny, always clean and stored inside "country-bumpkin" machines.

Riding in NYC (from my usually ride in the country) point of view is
like going to war. Wear your battle fatigues and be ready to get some
bumps and bruises. The bikes that do well are like camoflaged milatary
war weapons, not very pretty but built for the job at hand.. that is:
get you from point A to B as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Yep, "The City Mouse and the County Mouse" is the theme age old little
kids story and "The City Bike and the Country Bike would make a good
title. To all you guys that dare ride in Manhatten, WOW! Talk about a
grueling course! Do you eyes all all sides of your head?! How you
survive is beyond me! But i give you due credit.. Iron Butt, Smiron
Butt... we got the NYC Rollers here! Now that's really tough riding!
Winter and Summer by the way!
