I picked up a 2004 SV650 last week and it is in need of some rubber. I
am trying to decide which tire to go with. I do quite a bit of riding
on the highway, so I am looking for something with a good tread life.
The front tire has plenty of tread left, but I am thinking of
changing it out to keep the tires matching, (do matching treads
matter???) or should I keep running it?
The bike has dunlop sportmaxx's on it now.
So what tires do you guys recommend?
I was looking at the metzeler m3 but I think they might be too
aggressive for my riding style.

Pirelli Diablos. A million times better than the MEZ4s that came
stock on my SV650S.
Stop worrying about how long your tires last, and worry about grip.
Tires are a lot cheaper than visiting the ER.

ANYTHING but Sportmax. Really, ANYTHING.

Check out the new Michelin Road Pilots (dual compound) or the new
Bridgestone 021 (their version of dual compound) and if you can't geteither
of those, the Bridgestone 014's are still a superb tyre from boh a milage
POV and grip. Tremenduous grip.

Funny you should mention these! It's what I just fitted to my Z1000!
Very nice, and the dual compound will be nice for commuter duty...

I'm torn between the new Michelin's and the new Bridgestone's. I've
currently got Avon Azaro III's on my Z1000 coz I needed mileage over grip
this summer and they're so reluctant to wear, they're still lasting well
through winter, so it won't be for a while before I'm forced into a
decision. Knowing your experience with the Michelin's would be good, so
anytime you want to post a review, I'll be looking:-)
