I was at Las Vegas Harley, Saturday, talking to a salesman.

He says Harley sales are way down and that it has to do with an over
production of  H-D motorcycles in 2003.

He said something about the ability to buy a pre-built, hot rod Stroker,
from the factory, instead of building your own. And then he motioned for me
to look at about 75 bikes parked in a roped off area of the parking lot. He
said that they were all 2007's that had been "returned".

Personally, I wouldn't trade or sell my 2004 RK for anything. I had a 96
inch Stroker briefly, and did not like it. Especially with the California
dealer restrictions. Restrictions that don't apply in Las Vegas.

So my point is, I don't get the salesman's point.
I think Harley, unlike the Japanese, is trapped into making a great
motorcycle, that a rider like me, would prefer to keep forever. Hell, H-D
even has an engine plan that, when your engine wears out, they will either
rebuild yours to it's exact specifications, or send you a brand new engine.
Also, there has been no real significant change in the motorcycle's styling
for the last 30+ years.

Perhaps the Boomers who are in midlife crisis got askairt and sold them
back? Or perhaps they couldn't make the payments anymore because of the poor
economy? I don't know.
For me, my point is, why trade in your baby for a new one, when you still
love your baby?

Say Hallelujah!
