Got some zipper-side boots at the local Harley dealership about a year ago.
(Reason for zipper-side: feet wouldn't fit into the ones without a zipper.)
Paid $180. Top-quality merchandise--great leather, great sole--but am
wondering if there are any mail-order sources that sell good motorcycle
boots?
Thanks for all suggestions.

Plenty of online/mail-order sources that sell good
boots, but to me, boots are even more of a "fit"
problem than helmets. I'd never order a brand or
style I didn't know would fit me, unless I had the
time and patience to do the "try, return, try again"
thing.
Once I've got a style of boot I like and I know my
size in it, though, there are often good deals to be
found online. And as in helmets, only a real jerk
would waste the time of the staff of the local
shop trying things on, and then turning around and
ordering from an online source to save a few
bucks. If you like those Harley boots and want
to order another pair, go for it. If you want to
try something else, though, it may be time to visit
the shop. Or be willing to run a few pair back and
forth through the mail.

www.riderwearhouse.com.
Look for "Combat Touring" boots. Lace, clip, and velcro
closure that even allows for my high instep. I've done 6 years in
them now, wet, dry, cold, hot, etc. Wouldn't wear anything else.
