News Brief item in the Rochester, NY newspaper web site this morning:
"Motorcycle found: A Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle reported stolen by the
Brockport Police Department was found unattended near Interstate 590 and
Monroe Avenue. The ignition was damaged."
Heh, how are we to cope if the *police* are going to steal our
motorcycles?
(Sure, we know what the copy writer meant .. or do we? <g>)

You've lost me. How does this imply in any way that the police stole the
motorcycle?

"Kawasaki reported *stolen by* the Brockport Police..."
Not "reported stolen _to_ the police" or "reported stolen by the
owner..." It's an example of poor phrasing by the writer, as I alluded
in the parenthetical statement above.
I'm sorry you got lost.

Don't worry about it. Some people can't find their way out of a closet with
the door open.

Now, if it had been an article about axle bolt torque, David would have
no further questions... ;-) Or ... waiddaminnit .. this *is* David!
