Water is pouring out of the sky here in Vancouver. What a surprise
for a rain forest. Looks like the blistering hot summer days are
over for the year (after the first late August heavy rain the sunny days
never seem quite so hot).

I hope RGD and WoV aren't riding somewhere especially rain-swept
getting soaked to the skin.

Btw last January I ordered a pair of rain boots from the local Suzuki
dealer. I got them by late June, when the dry season had just started.
Now I can try them out.

Hmmm, when I lived in Vancouver I don't recall ever having a "dry"
season. ;-)

If you are interested a few of The Alberta Crude are making a ride
through the Kootenay Bay and Slocan Valley regions in a couple of
weeks. If you have the time why not join us in New Denver?

Hah. Hah. Good thing you threw in that smiley.

Ok, the "Not Quite So Wet" season is typically July and the first
two weeks of August. That's when all the postcard pictures are taken.

Something to do with a high pressure airmass off Hawaii that deflects
Pacific weather systems towards Alaska.

Sounds like fun. Early September? I'll see if I can make it.

What passes for blistering hot there?  (My other house is in Florida)
Maryland hardly tops 100.

It's been raining much heavier than normal for the past month or more
in Ocala.

Anything above 30 C

From ocala.com I have learned that:

* the temperature is 73 F (but feels like 83, presumably due to 94%
humidity)

* thunderstorms are forecast

* there are plans to build a new 2,000-bed prison in Marion Oaks
that would cost $100 million:

[ot] Does the United States really need more prisons? It already has
the highest incarceration rate in the world, if I can believe these
figures: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prison_system
