I had to run out and get oil and a filter for the B racebike on
Saturday, and the weather was perfect. So I put my backpack on my
back and rode the backroads 28 miles to Coleman PowerSport in Falls
Church, VA.
The roads through Great Falls, Virginia following the southern bank of
the Potomac river ae curving, unmarked two-lanes, with lots of multi-
million dollar homes set back in the woods with hidden driveways.
Luckily, I commuted to work on these roads every day for 15 years, so
I know them well.
I didn't really get stuck behind anyone on my way east to the store,
and the 999 Superbike was simply superb. The air temps were cool
enough that the heat pouring off the vertical cylinder didn't bake my
right leg, and the commited riding position was fine.
Had a great ride down, ran into an old friend and chatted with him for
15 minutes, got my stuff and headed home.
Unfortunately, I was held up for about 6-7 miles and about 20 minutes
by a caravan of slow moving cars all being obstructed my a large white
SUV, whose driver kept the speed down to about 7-8mph below the limit.
When I finally got clear of that mess, I was able to ease the pain in
my wrists, speed up, and enjoy the bellowing twin once again. Yet, I
still have sore neck muscles today from craning my neck to see up the
road, and I never was able to adjust the mirrors to be the slightest
bit usefull on the steet.
Even this, the most humane superbike I've ever ridden, is still - to
me - a lousy streetbike. Had my Monster been finished, it would have
been a MUCH better ride.

Even if the EX250 gets 60+ mpg, that was a $10 o-ring!

I confess I bought a filter, too, for a total of about $10, and I stopped
for eggs, toast, coffee and a piece of homemade apple pie so all told I
spent about $30 to pick up that $2.17 O-ring and I would gladly do it again!
Bikes rock.
