umm, yeah. Driver's ed, 15.5 years old. The first time I'd ever been
behind the wheel and the teach says, "Now, get on 101." "Huh? You want
me to get on the highway?" Yeah. You'll be fine."
This was pre-Interstates. 101 was a 65mph highway with a 16"-wide
double yellow line between me and oncoming traffic. Hoowee!  It's all
his fault. I've been hooked on adrenalin ever since.

The instructors pretty much tell you what will be tested, and what you have to
do. For instance, one test will be coming to quick a stop from 2nd or 3rd gear,
forget which, within a certain distance where you stop the bike with it in 1st
gear, left foot down, and right foot on the brake. You practice this exercise
many times.

I think the one thing that doesn't get taught well enough in the MSF course is
counter-steering due to riding at slow speeds. I did it kind of instinctively,
and it took some time before I realized what I was doing. Once I got the hang of
that, my control of the bike went up significantly. But that's off-topic really.
Everything that you will be tested on, you will practice several times.

Hey Lisa. You really don't have anything at all to worry about with the
MSF course. They take you, literally, from square one right up through
to your test. You honestly don't need any practise before taking the
course. If fact, it might be a little harder for you if you have to
"un-learn" some bad habits you might already have picked up. It sounds
like you've already got some riding experience and thats fine. Just
relax...take the course...do what the instructors say...and have a
ball. Everything else will fall into place...for true...

Have water and salted snacks.  Lots of water.

I spent most of my first riding day having to unlearn bad habits as
defined by the MSF.

It's OK.  You only broke your leg in three places.  Walk it off.
