Nation of Secrets author Ted Gup says this is how our federal courts are
working: In product liability cases 2% go to jury trial and 98% are
settled out of court. In product liability cases the injured party is
forbidden to tell anybody how he was injured or what injured them. The
lawyer is bared from taking another case on this product. The case is
sealed and all the evidence is locked and sealed. If there is another
injury handled by another lawyer, nobody can access this evidence in
fact it's like it never existed. Only the company knows how many times
somebody has been injured by their product. So we can all be using
defective products but because we are not injured we don't know it and
if we are injured we think we are the only one. The courts won't tell
you, the lawyers won't tell you and the company won't tell you.
The courts are protecting who? The only time you hear of a recall is
when the number of injuries are just so overwhelming that they can't
hide the fact.

The bottom line is....
You do NOT have to maximize profits, find a balance.
