So, having acquired an old Super Glide with what appeared to be a
BRAND NEW front tire on it (right down to the nubs), I've been having
loads of fun with it.
However, one sore spot is that BRAND NEW front tire; which would be
better described as a totally un-used 8-year-old tire. DOT code for
this Dunlop K591 100-90/19 gem is 0326, indicating it was constructed
in the 26th week of 2003.
It's on its way out. A real brand new one has been ordered. Also
on the way from Kosman Specialties is a set of full floating Brembo
front rotors. Coupled with a set of new front brake pads, it will be
interesting to see just how quickly the 620-pound FXDX can be hauled
down from supra-legal speeds on the teeny-tiny tire patch that the
skinny cruiser-style tire provides.
If the rain *ever* stops. 4.5 inches today alone, so far, following
five solid days of rain, and more to come....
Wondering if I should buy the oem pads (always liked them in the
Street Glide) or the EBC HH compound pads (always liked them in the
Brembo systems on the Ducatis....) Something to ponder while waiting
for the rain to stop.

Is there any way to fit a wider front rim without breaking
the bank? Or is the skinny tire actually OK?
I just can't really understand the skinny front/fat rear
styling choice (pretty sure it's not done to improve
handling) on cruiser bikes. It doesn't even /look/ right,
to me.

<Unhappy memories>
And Mr Jawa, because the TLS front drum on his antique 350 that I
possessed could only have been there for decoration, I'm sure.

Nothing damages a machine more than an ignoramus with a manual, a
can-do attitude and a set of cheap tools
