Here in the mid-Atlantic region, we were blessed with a pre-Christmas
snowfall of record proportions; in Herndon we got 24 inches of snow
the week-end before Christmas. To put that in context, our average
YEARLY snowfall in this area is 15-17 inches. Subsequently, we have
had a very minor snowfall of 2-4 inches, and three consecutive cold
fronts, each colder than the last, coming down out of Canada, so that
for the past two weeks our temperatures have been about 10 degrees
below the normal (for mid-January) daily high of 41 and low of 22.
This week they are finally predicting a warming trend, and by Thursday
the always correct (right?) meteorologist talking heads on TV are
predicting a high of about 10 degrees ABOVE normal, sunny, with a low
of 31 and a high of 52.
I am taking Thursday off work and I am going to ride. I plan to ride
all three of my currently licensed street bikes, starting with a very
short toot on the uncomfortable but lightweight 750SS, then a slightly
longer ride on the much more comfy and much faster and almost equally
light S4Rs, limited only by how long I can stay comfortable with no
wind protection at all, and then last; a longer, more relaxed and laid
back ride on the Harley Street Glide with fairing, lowers, heated
handgrips, and radio.
And yes, I am suffering withdrawal symptoms and yes, I can hardly wait.

Mm, Timing is tricky. Saturday weather looks good, and it is good to
ride with a friend.
Hwy's 9, 341, and 14 W are the only ones I know thus far. Where is
Push Mtn Rd?
The roads in and around the Ozark NF west of there are one I hope to
ride again this year. I just discovered that excellent area a few
years ago and it my honestly my new favorite riding location.
