Pay attention to hydration and electrolytes if it's a long ride.
Coming from work, dunno what clothing choices are available.
For longer rides in hot weather I like mesh jacket and pants and
perf gloves with bike shorts and compression shirt.
A warmer shirt in the tankbag and heated grips are helpful
if it suddenly cools down and you're far from home.

Death Valley riders use full leathers and full face helmets and water packs
on the back
