On Sunday, my old buddy Tom and I headed up to Annapolis, where my
former race partner George is kindly storing the 2003 Ducati 620 Sport
that I bought off of eBay two weeks ago.   George was out of town on
family business, but had left me access to his garage and tools.   Tom
and I took some of our own tools as well as some parts and supplies
for routine maintenence items.

We started by stripping off all the street equipment that's not
required for the track, including the mirrors, turn signals, horn,
headlight, taillight, vapor canister, and rear fender.   We warmed the
bike up, changed the oil and filter, replaced the spark plugs, and
then put all the stock bodywork back on the bike.  The plan is to
replace the stock plastic with race bodywork later, but right now the
budget won't allow that.

Then we put the bike back away, put it up on race stands, and took off
both the front and rear wheels.  The wheels will be going up to Duc
Pond Motorsports later this week (along with Tom's 996SPS - HIS
trackbike) for Donnie to replace the oem tires with a set of D208GPs.

Afterwards, I took Tom to a local Annapolis area seafood restaurant
that George & his lovely bride had introduced to me, and we had the
first Chesapeake Bay Blue crab feast of the season.  Jumbos, no less.
AWESOME!

The only thing we didn't get done that we had planned to do was to
flush, refill, and bleed the brakes and the hydraulic clutch system.
I can do that at the track if I have to, or I might be able to do it
when I make a return trip to Annapolis to reinstall the wheels with
the new tires.

First trackday for the new bike (which, btw, has all of 1,470 miles on
it) is May 24 at Summit Point.   Getting excited about riding a slow
bike again!   Hopefully I'll get some pictures from the track.  I also
plan to take the S4Rs out for a few laps with its new exhaust system
and steering damper, assuming I get it back from Pennsylvania in time.
