I like to take pictures during my rides but I have to stop and take off
my gloves since my camera is about the size of a pack of cigarettes and
the buttons are tiny.  Sometimes that's not practical.  Any tips on
taking pictures while riding?

A helmet camera can be fun.   So can a tank mount for a still camera,
especially if it can be rigged with a remote that has a nice big
button on it.

Getting a camera with a larger button would be a good start.

Having one with a bright display also helps, so can still see it when
you're holding it above shoulder height to get a picture of the road
ahead without the windshield being in the picture.

And, in place of careful composition, just snap lots of pics so that
at least one is likely to turn out good.  Digital is cheap that way
anyway.

Get a bigger camera. Seriously. And one that you can fiddle with, like a
DSLR, so you can compenste for vibration and suspension jolting by using
a faster shutter speed (for example). And one with a neck strap (like an
SLR) so if you need to let go of it in a hurry it won't go anywhere.

If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it. Workshop manual?
