And because Mama wanted a nice backrest.
Unfortunately, Victory does not make a leather style for the Cross
Roads to match the leather bags. So it was either lay out for all new
bags or add a Kingpin trunk. I chose the latter.
Supposedly, Kewlmetal's luggage rack was drilled out to fit the
Kingpin trunk. See: http://www.kewlmetalstore.com/produc...roducts_idC9
So I purchased the trunk from my Vic dealer and ordered a black
luggage rack from Kewlmetal $374. I got the trunk and waited and
waited for Kewlmetal. I would email them every couple weeks and they
would respond now and then saying sorry they're late. Finally, I got
fed up with them, cancelled the order, and found one on the
Victoryonly site.
The nice thing was Victoryonly was only charging $330. It arrived
promptly after ordering. It was chrome instead of black, but that
really doesn't bother me and it is actually a $65 upgrade per the
Kewlmetal price list.
The chrome was a little beat up on one side of the rack. I reckon it
was a return and that's why I got the bargain price. Didn't matter to
me since I was going to bolt the box on it anyway.
The "bolt and ride" statement on Kewlmetal's site turned out to be
false. I had to drill out four new holes in the base of the trunk to
make it fit. No big deal, but it wasn't bolt and ride.
So a couple of months after my initial crusade to round out the
leather bag look, I have success. Mama is very happy with the back
support as well.

They are extra and I don't want them. I've never had them on any
other bike I've owned, and I'm not inclined to put them on a bagger
just because people who ride baggers are more prone to falling over.

It looks like something off a speeding freight train of doom from a
cartoon. What the hell, it works (directly ahead anyways). I do think
I will invest in some PIAA fog lamps for it to light up the corners
better though. Hitting the brights helps, but not enough.
