3 bikers clad in black leather jackets riding black bikes, no helmet,
ocassional eye protection... they rent a house in a nice neighborhod,
I guess to stand out like a sore thumb and then proceed to take over
the world by poisoning the water supply.... those crazy bikers :)-
The one thing that stood out was how loud their bikes were and how
good they sounded - and this was 1961'ish, so they couldn't have been
but so much displacement.

That's the one! But they didn't say squat about the bikes and that was
the coolest part - fairly loud and excellent tone. I wodner what one
of those 3 bieks would bring today.

Is it possible they were BSA's or Trumpets? The original 60's Brit bikes
made an astounding noise. Mostly 650cc.

I didn't see the film so I can't say this conclusively, but....
Most(aka very many) of the films I've seen containing
motorcycles have the machine sounds dubbed. It's really
pretty funny sometimes. I recall one old Hawaii Five O
episode, where a young drug crazed girl was riding one
of those early tiny Yamaha twins of 100cc.
However, the soundtrack would have led you to believe
that the bike was a medium sized British twin, or just a
Harley(I can't recall which). I've also seen the reverse,
where a definite 4 stroke motorcycle is mounted, but the
overlayed sound is from a small 2 stroke dirtbike.
I guess it's only important to someone who rides, or for
someone fixed on detail(s). But, it's still pretty funny to
see.
