Because he went down the wrong side of a dual carriageway....
Got to say, I did the same myself, once, for about 10 seconds, decades
ago, in France, on a bike. Thankfully it was deserted. Then again, if it
had been busy, I wouldn't have turned onto it.
Anyone here ever been foxed while driving in Britain (or other countries
where they drive on the left)? And why/how?

I just know I'm gonna get creamed the first time I try and cross a busy
street by looking the wrong way. I've even told my wife that if we ever
visit over there I am not driving and if we walk anywhere, we are not going
to be the first to cross any street. ;-)

In London, I noticed they had painted "Look Right" on the curb at some
crosswalks on busy streets.

No, but I was once riding in a car being driven by a recently
transplanted Brit who turned left out of a parking lot here in
southern California directly into heavy oncoming traffic.
It was night-time, and the flood of headlights rapidly closing on us
seemed to stun him for a couple of seconds, whereupon I yelled "BILL!!
WRONG SIDE!!", and he promptly jerked the wheel to the right, avoiding
a collision -but not the horns and curses that followed us...
It must be a very easy thing to do.

Genuine LOL. Yes, I can see how they might.

It is. Very. Especially first thing in the morning, and the first
intersection you come to.
