As mentioned SWMBO bought a new H-D to replace her 01 Sporty. We have had
all of our vehicles insured with USAA for over 20 years. But when she tried
to add the new one she was sent to Progressive. Seems that USAA will
continue to insure the bikes it has but will not add any new ones. The
stated reason is that they charged the same rate for everyone no matter what
kind of bike or rider - a bargain for the 20 year old newbie on a Ninja but
when they began losing money they decided to quit insuring everybody. So
SWMBO was forced to buy a brand new policy with another company while trying
to get her new bike out the door. USAA turned her on to Progressive but had
we known this was going to happen we would have shopped alternatives. So

FWIW, I've been with Progressive for both cars and bikes for about 10
years now, and have been very happy. Excellent rates on the bike, too.

Knock on wood, I've switched _all_ my insurance (house, cars, bikes)
over to Progressive recently, saving literally thousands compared
to MetLife who were making a big pile of money off me. We "had"
to go to Progressive seven years ago when my wife started riding a
Ninja 250 (previous insurer was American Family for her CM400T) and
AF said the EX250 was too racy for them to handle. Progressive is
very easy to deal with as far as policy changes go, although I have
never made a claim with them.
One thing I don't like about Progressive is that they insist you
need a 2nd policy for more than four bikes, which necessitated some
shuffling around when I added a 5th bike during our last bike trip,
but as one of the bikes was sitting home in the garage it wasn't a
showstopper, and they cheerfully deal with frequent policy changes
without assessing administrative charges.

Megadittos on Progressive for bikes. I will be shopping my home and
car insurance to them within the next week.
Thanks for the feedback!
