Range of Light gypsy tour. About 650 miles of tour and another
550 miles to and from. Routes and final destination for the next
day disclosed each evening.

Starting at Roseville Ca., north thru Quincy to Cedarville,
stop overnight then northwest thru Tule Lake and the lava beds,
swinging into Merrill Oregon then dropping down into Yreka.
Really liked the Tule Lake area, especially around Timber
Mountain.

A little bit of washboard dirt and a little bit of pavement that
was worse than the dirt. On the crap pavement, this 68
year old dude I was riding with decided this was his cup
of tea and started passing everybody in sight. I was keeping
up but standing on the pegs on the worst of the potholes.

Really had a good time, though I'm realizing that my seat
leaves a little bit to be desired. The bike was shedding a
little and required some emergency therapy with bungees
and duct tape. Found one saddlebag dangling by its
safety strap after the lock to the frame broke. I highly
recommed adding that extra strap. Saved a whole lot
of grief it did.

Very entertaining weekend.

My wife and I rode our bikes to Rainbow Lake [1] and back - about 600
miles each way.  Headed up there on Saturday, spent the next day with
her family and rode back again on Monday.

I used the Street Bob for this one.  In spite of having no windshield,
it's surprisingly comfortable bike for long trips like that.

[1]  located in Northern Alberta - about as far north and west as you
can go.

While working on my racing sidecar

got a call that my driver had crashed while flat track racing.  Broke
his collar bone, shoulder blade and ribs.  He would not be driving for
me this weekend!

Finished working on the rig and hauled it to the track in search of a
driver or passenger.  While ther were a few guys there that I wouldn't
mind riding with, I finally decided this was a good time to take over
driving myself.

While standing in line to register for the races I was discussing this
with a friend when another racer overheard and volenteered to be my
passenger.

We survived the races and didn't finish last in my first race as
driver.
