I've never bothered to calculate the cost, but I'm sure owning motorcycles
doesn't save me money, and I do all my own maintenance. A lot of co-workers
talk about getting a motorcycle to save on gasoline. I always warn them that
the total cost of ownership is higher than the gas savings, especially in
northern Michigan where the riding season is rather short. I rarely
discourage anyone from getting a motorcycle, but I think the reason for
owning one should be purely for the enjoyment of riding.

I have no problem keeping track of my MC costs, my wife keeps me well reminded.

Get her a bike of her own. That's what I did. Now I have to buy two of
everything: motorcycles, snowmobiles, helmets, jackets, boots, gloves, etc,
etc, etc..........
Oh well, we have lots of fun and don't worry very much about the cost.

Unfortunately, my wife has no love for the bike and would love to see me sell
it. Fortunately I had the good sense to make sure it would not become a problem
with her before we got married.
