We recognize the necessity of withdrawing the traditional promise of a
January thaw due to sudden, dramatic, and unexpected anthropogenic
perturbations in the environment and sincerely regret particularly at
this season any resulting inconvenience. Perhaps, given the general
decline in economic activity worldwide, we may be able to provide one
of appropriate duration next year.

This is true. If you want to cure global warming the best thing to do
is glue all politicians' mouths shut. I guess the other end should be
glued up too--if it can't come out one end it'll come out the other.
