American authorities recently apprehended more than 400 children
from a ranch in Texas because they had determined that these kids
were not being socialized appropriately. (Most of them had never even
seen Saturday morning cartoons funded by TV ads for Barbie dolls
or My Little Ponies and so were "culturally deprived".)
So what does "appropriate" mean and who determines it?
Would things ever reach the point where riding a chopper would be
considered _prima facie_ evidence of social maladaption? I am not
exaggerating (much) ... some LEO's are known for a personal vendetta
against bikers, and there are countries where step out of line and
you get sent to a "re-education camp" to practice "self-criticism",
something like a compulsory, protracted AA meeting behind razor wire.
Mere ownership http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm32/sean_q_/
would be self-evident proof of Bad Attitude, Rebellion, Insolence,
Nonconformism and Contempt of Authority all of which can only be cured
by harsh measures.

Assuming that you're talking about the removal of 400 children
from a polygamist cult compound in Eldorado, TX (see one of
the early news stories, http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7010553339 ),
saying that this happened "because...kids were not being socialized
properly" is an immense distortion and glossing-over of the situation.
The removal was prompted by child-abuse complaints originally
made by a 16-year-old girl who had escaped the cult. A recent
follow-up story (see:
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/texassouthwest/stories/DN-polygamists_29tex.ART.State.Edition1.4659c76.html
stated that of the 53 girls aged 14 to 17 years who were in the group
removed, 31 were either pregnant or had already given birth at
least once in the past.
Or do you think that the rape of minors should be considered
under the question of "appropriate socialization"?

Yeah, yeah, but why ruin a perfectly good "government is always wrong" rant
with facts?

An investigation didn't bear out allegations of abuse. Can your
church pass muster with the bitter feminist who began this violation
of church and state? Remember Waco.

Sean_Q and fiddle mike: Both you guys are brain washed and warped.
Them ass holes at Waco got what they deserved !!! (Just another way of
saying fuck you both).
You need to find a source of news that has just a tiny shred of objectivity.
Whatever you are watching now isn't even close.
