Stopped by the dealer to pickup some frame bolts for my VTX I ordered
last week. Checked out the Yamaha Royal star Tour Deluxe - 1300cc,
V-4, about $15K or so out the door; payments at about $300/mo for 5
years with their special financing.
I liked the bike - plenty of wind protection, hard bags that look like
they fit the bike; some of the items come off easily with quick-
release latches to more easily switch between tourer and cruiser.
It's only a 1300cc bike, with a V-4, it's supposedly a very smooth
ride.
Anybody here ride one? If so, what do you think of a 1300cc tourer?

Yeah, appears I've been brainwashed by the biker-powers-to-be-ad-
people into thinking a 1300CC bike is "only a 1300cc bike". Of course,
I'm coming from the perspective of 1800cc's :)-
As for that, I've since learned that this V4 is very smooth and runs
more like a sportsbike with higher revs. One guy wrote that a VTX1800
took him off the blocks, but by the time he switched into 3rd gear on
his RSTD, he was passing the VTX.
I'm liking the RSTD more the mroe I read about it.

After 2005 they have more aggressive cams and changes to bring the
power more in line with the Venture. Earlier ones lack power. There is
nothing wrong with the power output now. But, I was all set to buy one
until I checked the carrying capacity, it is way low. There was no way
I could buy a Royal Star Tour Deluxe as I weigh nearly 300 pounds, by
myself. Check it out before you buy. I believe it is only like 338
pounds or something. My wife weighs more than 40 pounds.
