Hi Folks - quick question. My wife spotted some bikes at a dealer in
NYC near us. They are good deals (A 250 Virago for 1800 and a 535
Virago for 2500 - the 535 is only 100 lbs more than the 250, and I
think quite manageable.)
Here is my question - these bikes are 11 years old (96). The 535 has
12k miles, the 250 4k miles. Are these bikes just too old to consider?
They have 30 warrenty from store.
Thanks,
Steve

30 YEAR WARRANTY ???
That alone is enough to peg my bullshit meter. Something
ain't right there. Which makes me doubt the bikes they sell ( not the
models, just THEIRS ).

Umm... I think he meant a 30 DAY warranty.
These bikes aren't too old to consider, but I would suggest getting
someone who knows about bikes to take a look at them before buying. NYC
bike shops aren't really known for their honesty when it comes to used
bikes. You might be better off buying from a private person.
I'm not sure that the prices are so great, either. Check out kbb.com to
see what price you should expect.

Sorry - my mind edited the word 'year' into that post for some
unknown reason.

Thanks guys - yes, I did mean 30 day. I think I'd rather spend a few
hundred more and get an almost new bike. The 535 seemed a bit tempting
(hard to find in my area) but I'd rather stay with original plan of the
250.
As always, calming voices are helpful!
