I saw that post and did try to look at a TomTom Rider. What I found
was they were discontinued three years ago and there wasn't even a
display model in Calgary to look at. Having always had Garmins I was
more comfortable with them. Better the devil you know.
By the time I got the $200.00 TomTom here I'd be into it for close to
$275.00 Canadian. Not knowing how up to date the maps would be I might
be looking at another hundred to update the maps, if they can be
updated. From there it is not a large leap to what I paid for the
Zumo. Well, ok it is a bit of a large leap. ;-)
I found a few Garmin 2610's on Ebay for a decent price but I would
have the same issue with updating maps and possibly the same issue
with the screen.
I am trying to justify my purchase, more for me than you. ;-)
Let us know how the TomTom works out. I just may be kicking myself for
not going a similar route.

Nuvi 500. Comes with Topo and road maps installed. $260 from Target
or fine stores. Pick up the motorcycle kit for another $49 and have
12v power at your handlebars to run it as long as needed. The internal
battery lasts about 2 hours. DAMHIK.

I have been using a Garmin 60Cx for the last few years, though, I am using the
road maps because it would not "follow the road" between points with the topo.

It looks like the current model is the 62 series.
