I do, fairly often.
But.
I'm not the one constantly arguing with everyone, calling people out and
getting called out in return.
Maybe you see my general reluctance to get involved in these things as a
character flaw on my part.
What I see is that someone I genuinely like is constantly getting embroiled
in petty arguments.
Hopefully you will think about that.
I'm not trying to find fault. I'm trying to be a friend.

Too fricking cold so I played indoor soccer instead.
FWIW, I am totally relaxed.

And his point is that warranty or no warranty they aren't stocking a
replacement part whose nature is such that it's likely to occasionally
get lost. It's not that he wants it replaced under warranty, it's
that he can't get it at any price short of buying a new helmet.
I know one thing--if that's the policy I'm not buying any damn HJC
helmets.

HJC explicitly told you that they wouldn't take back
a helmet that had been painted ?
If they're planning to scrap the helmet anyway, why
would they care ? I can't see HJC conducting a large
scale helmet refurb/resale operation.
I'd at least make that inquiry and maybe a protest
if they wouldn't take it back, and I'd pursue this
before I even thought about anything else. My
expectation is that any reputable manufacturer
would have some fix for a product defect.
I agree with others that it's not the dealer's fault and
wouldn't filch any helmet parts not offered willingly.

No, I want to keep my paintjob. I never spoke with HJC, just the bike shop.

It is not the dealers fault, but that is where I brought it from some
thats where I go to get it sorted. They deal with the rep and make money
as the middle men selling the product, they can back what they sell and
sort it out with the rep. I'm happy at the way it turned out....
