Does anyone remember the model name that Yamaha gave it's short lived
dual purpose bike with the rz350 engine?

I recall reading magazine reviews of this bike back in the late 1980's
(or maybe even 1990?), but I can't remember the model name.  I even
recall having a Yamaha marketing poster showing the full Yamaha model
lineup (for 1988?) which included a picture of this bike, but of course
I lost that poster long ago.

I've been googling around for quite some time and I still haven't found
any references to this very short lived bike model.

Anyone else remember it?

If this is what you're looking for, Ebay has 9 of them listed.

Nope, the bike I'm looking for was built for dual purpose riding with
mildly nobby tires and off road suspension.

When the bike was first marketed(1989?), I paid close attention as at
the time I was riding a '88 rz350 and I was intrigued by the idea of
transplanting the rz350 engine into an enduro-like chassis.

The reviewers of this bike noted that it was a little daunting to
control in the dirt when the borrowed rz350 engine hit the power
band.(rear tire would readily break loose if you weren't careful with
the throttle)

I don't think the bike sold very well and I doubt that it was in the
model lineup for more than a year (or two at the most).

It's driving me nuts that I can't remember the model name and that I
can't dig up any info on the bike via google or the various motorcycle
websites(I'm usually pretty good at digging up info).  I wish I had kept
all the old sales literature...
