2003 v-star 1100 has almost 14000 miles on it. I pulled the air
cleaner yesterday to adjust valves and i found some oil in cleaner
cover. Has anyone run into this? and if so what do I look for? I try
to do all of my repairs myself.

It's condensed oil blowby from the crankcase. It comes up through the
breather hose.

#38: PIPE, BREATHER 1

There's a plug you can remove to drain the outer air cleaner box, but the
owner's manual probably never mentions periodic draining of the hose that
collects condensed oil.

There's probably some oil in #35 too

If the bike has paper air filters, oil soaking ruins them.
