figures, right? human nature...the second i'm relieved of spending
money on repairs, i try to spend it on accessories...

anyway, hard bags ... $500+ for the good stuff, $150 for mutzao
lunchbox crap, and then there's the ebay wildcard..

saw these bags, figured i might bid, but i have no idea how to value
them ... any suggestions?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item 0217511801

leading bid presently is about $150 (that's 5pm EST - it'll end at 7pm
EST)

shipping is $50 to NY from LA (which shouldn't factor into the value
of the bags, but will for me if they're going to be more than $350)

thanks

By now, you've either bought them or not. The closing price
of $250 didn't look too bad if they'd really drop onto your bike
with no hassle. Had you figured out the mounting rack ?

I recently picked up a set of BMW hard bags on eBray for $100
delivered. There may be one crack to fix, but at that price I'm
happy to have them for spares. The leftside bag, which is
hard to find is intact and I'm delighted to have them.

You can use the search feature to check out past auctions
that have already closed. This ought to give you a better idea
of what you can expect to pay. If you can be patient, figure out
your price ahead of time, set up a search with email notification
and wait for the right item(s) to come along.

Too cool. I have an identicle set that I had on my BSA. I guess they will be
going on Ebay.
I found an original 1963 factory option leather saddlebag set that will be
going on the bike, someday when i finish it.

I have a set of jumbo Bates saddlebags like that in the garage, but I
won't sell them.
They've been on three motorcycles.

The set cost $129.00 new back in 1975. There were special brackets for
each motorcycle model.

Those chromed saddlebag guards were extra.

Since Bates bags are made of fiberglass, they can be easily repaired
over and over until some really serious accident absolutely crushes
them.

They are worth every bit of what they cost new, and ebay shipping
always adds quite a bit to the price, so the shippers must love ebay.

i really felt like they were some quality gear, and in the last 10
minutes of the auction i got caught up talking to my lady and i'm
really kicking myself now ... guess patience is the game now

considering the bags have lasted forever, they had to be worth the
$250 and easily a bit more...i would have bid up to $300,
probably...wonder if that would have won? found another pair, just
like it (wow!) and in better condition, so maybe i'll get my chance...

would have to get new brackets
